"In West Philadelphia, born and raised..."

So, probably many of the people reading this blog grew up watching "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air", and we can all rap the opening tune perfectly, right? Well, this past weekend, not only did we go to West Philadelphia, where Will Smith was 'born and raised', but we got a full Philly experience! Brittany Erickson's brother, Carter, is going to dental school out there, and he and his family let us come and stay with them for the weekend so that we could have one last hoorah on the East Coast. We had a blast! We took the megabus, which was a great deal, and got in late Friday night. On Saturday, Nathan and I took the subway right to the heart of where our country was founded. It was so awesome. First of all, they've done a great job with the visitor's center, all of the historical sites, and everything else, which makes it fun and easy for tourists. Everything is so close, and it was spiritually patriotic to be where so many important acts took place. We saw the Liberty Bell, which is such an awesome symbol of the freedom of our country. We toured the house where Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. We walked the floors of Independence Hall where the great founders of this country met to make important decisions that would shape the future. It was so humbling to be there, and I now have a greater appreciation for America, what our Founding Fathers accomplished, and for this wonderful country in which we live. We are so blessed to be here. I love America. I love what we stand for. This past summer, Nathan has found a deep interest for the Revolution, read many books on it, and knows so much, so it was fun to have a tour guide! We had a great time and loved every second.

Sweet weekend. Did you have a Philly cheese steak too? I can't wait for your next post with Menlo Park updates!
