Seals and Aquarium Day

On Saturday, we headed up to San Francisco to see the seals (I guess right now is a good time for them), and to try out the Aquarium of the Bay (with our tickets from the library--I love that they do that!).  Anyway, it had been a while since Claire had seen the seals, so what better time?
It was such a gorgeous day!  So grateful that the cold front of the past 2 weeks has gone elsewhere :)
Claire loved the seals and kept wanting them to "plop into the water!" One thing that she's super into right now is knowing the names of everyone around her.  For example, when a song comes on in the car, she'll point to the ceiling and say, "This is..." and she would like to know the title of the song and who is singing.  Also, for scripture time, we use the awesome Book of Mormon reader books, and she will point to all of the faces asking for the names of each person or thing (the disciple page and Nephi's tools pages are the easiest for us, as they're labeled...).  Anyway, so when we were watching the seals, she would point to them and want to know their name.  She did come up with one name by herself--"Bear".  I was so proud!
Really flattering family photo
After watching the seals for a while, we went to the Aquarium of the Bay.  I've always been super skeptical of it because it's in a small building, and I just had higher hopes for SF's aquarium potential.  So, since my expectations were so low, they were greatly exceeded!  It was fun.  Here, Claire is really fascinated by the jellyfish.  When you think about it, what an odd creature!
They have 2 big tunnels where fish, sharks, sting rays, etc., swim all around you.  It was cool.  Claire was not happy that there was a scuba diver in the tank.  "I don't want to see the guy swimming".  She wants nature to thrive on its own I guess.  The exhibit ends with two touch pools where you can touch sharks, sting rays, starfish, etc.  It was super cool.
So, that was our fun activity for the weekend!
