Club Rodeo, The Dancing Cowboy, and Chris Cagle...almost

So last week when I was already in Valencia on vacation, Nathan called and said that he had planned a fun date for us for August 14th. He was really excited and tried to keep it a secret. That didn't last for too long, as I got it out of him that he had bought tickets to a Chris Cagle concert in San Jose! I was super excited. We both like country music, and Chris Cagle sings mine and Nathan's song "What a Beautiful Day", so it had special meaning! So Friday comes and we're both excited. It was down at the Rodeo Club in San Jose. We didn't know too much about the concert--just the performer, place, and that the doors were scheduled to open at 7 PM. We went in at about 7:30, and were enjoying it. It was a little bit more 'club-ish' than we originally thought, but whatever--it was a concert! It started off really fun as there were line dancing lessons (something I love) with "The Dancing Cowboy". You can check it out: www.thedancingcowboy.com. I was loving it. After those were done, it was about 8:30/9 PM, and we figured that Chris would be on soon! Well, then the DJ was just playing country music, the night got darker, the club more crowded, the alcoholic consumption almost out of control, and we were just waiting...waiting...Where was Chris? Wasn't this a concert? At 9:48 PM I asked a worker when he was coming out--he said in about 1/2 hour. So, Nathan and I, a married, Mormon couple (ie totally out of place), got to hang out in a club for even longer. The last kickers were when two drunk girls ran past our table, knocking it over and spilling other people's mostly finished alcoholic beverages all over me. I looked back to the bathrooms to potentially clean up and saw a guy stagger to the bathroom completely intoxicated and then bend over as if to purge. It was time. We left at 10:45 and still no Chris Cagle. Who knows when he came out...
Meanwhile, we got to watch this 80+-year old man ask all of these young girls to country dance with him. Sick.

So, you live and learn, right? Now we know not to go to country 'concerts' at the Rodeo Club, as they shouldn't be in the 'concert' category.

oh my! that sounds like a bad mix up - in a club i am kinda laughing just imagining how out of place you must have felt. haha - that stinks about the concert part of it all. great stories though! ha
