4th of July
Things are going great here! We had a lot of fun on the 4th, starting with a Revolutionary War walking tour! We were a little skeptical at first, but it turned out to be great! There aren't many original sites from that time (a church and a fence were the only ones we saw), but we learned a lot and saw a lot. One thing I learned was that during the War, the English wanted NY Harbor so badly because it didn't freeze over, like Boston and other ports did. I thought it got cold here, but I guess some places are worse! At night we watched the fireworks, which were breathtaking. From the New Jersey shore, we watched the fireworks going off in Brooklyn, which might not sound cool, but they were awesome b/c they silhouetted the NY skyline, which was beautiful. It was great! Pics: Here we are at Federal Hall where George Washington was sworn in as President, then Nathan with Benjamin Franklin in the background, and then the decorated Statue of Liberty. They've placed these statues all over NYC as advertising for the All-Star Baseball game which is here this summer. Each is decorated for a different team..JPG)
