Day 1: Jersey City
Today was Nathan's first day of work! It went well, and he's excited for the weeks ahead. Though it was a change from our fun months in Granite Bay, he's excited to be busy and have a daily schedule. We live just down Hudson Street from his office, and it's about a 10 minute walk for him, which is nice. Today we found that the mornings are way more humid than the afternoon. It was a beautiful day--warm with a little breeze! I enjoyed the day by familiarizing myself with the Newport area of Jersey City (where we live). First of all, there's this great boardwalk that goes right along the Hudson right across from our hotel which is beautiful, and it leads to a lighthouse! So cute! After walking up there, I jumped on the LightRail (one of my first experiences with public transportation...) and headed south to Liberty State Park. There I walked more and saw the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island about as close as you can get to them without actually being there. It was fun. We might go to that park to watch fireworks on the 4th. Here are some pictures--for some reason, the 'first day of school' pictures never get old for me; 'first day of work' falls into that category:

Nate's face is classic, ready to go with a packed lunch in his bag which has a napkin in it with a note on it from you! I love it! I personally appreciate your updates and photos! That will be awesome to be there for the 4th celebrations!
